Assistant/Associate Professor of Veterinary Anatomic Pathology The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in anatomic pathology. The applicant should possess a DVM degree, advanced training in anatomic pathology and a PhD degree or equivalent. Certification or eligibility by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists is required. The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology includes 56 faculty members with diverse backgrounds and research interests. The successful applicant must possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere. The selected individual will play an important role in teaching and mentoring veterinary students and residents and provide clinical service to the veterinary teaching hospital. The successful candidate will participate in diagnostic service, research, teaching, and general service to the university and public. The percentages of these activities are negotiable. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
A demonstrated interest in research is sought. Signature research programs in the college include cardiovascular science, neuroscience, biomedical genomics, environmental medicine/toxicology, reproductive biology and biodefense and emerging infectious diseases. The Department strongly encourages collaborative research activity and is a role model for “one health’ through its research affiliations with a variety of sister institutions, including the Texas A&M Health Science Center, Texas Medical Center, the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, the Texas Heart Institute, and the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory. Opportunities in translational research, especially in the area of cardiovascular pathology, are ongoing through the Texas A&M Institute for Preclinical Studies and the Texas A&M Translational Pathology Laboratory. Cancer research is a growing focus in the college that is supported by collaboration with M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and the construction of a new state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging and cancer treatment center. The biomedical genomics program is a strong emphasis of collaborative research in the college. Specialty diagnostic services in dermatopathology, renal pathology, osteopathology, and gastrointestinal pathology provide additional opportunities.
